A Message That Never Sent

A Message That Never Sent

Ayan and Zara met by accident — literally.
One rainy evening, his bike splashed muddy water on her white dress outside a bookstore. She glared; he apologized; they laughed. That laugh turned into coffee, and coffee turned into long walks under flickering streetlights.

They never confessed it out loud, but everyone could see it — the way she’d look for him in a crowd, the way his voice softened only when he said her name.

Then, life stepped in.
Zara moved abroad for her career. Ayan stayed behind, chasing dreams that kept slipping away. They promised to stay in touch, but time and distance have their own plans.

One night, years later, Ayan typed a message:

“I still think of you when it rains.”

He stared at it for minutes — then deleted it before sending.

The next morning, his phone buzzed.
A message from Zara:

“It’s raining here too… and I still think of you.”

Sometimes love doesn’t end — it just learns to wait quietly in the background, like rain that never really stops.
